Arizona Salmonella Cluster

salmonella.jpgArizona health officials have confirmed 24 cases of Salmonella in the Sierra Vista area. The source of this cluster of Salmonella infections is unknown.

Although raw eggs and poultry are most often associated with Salmonella, almost any food can become contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. Some of the recent Salmonella outbreaks have involved tomatoes, alfalfa sprouts, rutabagas, iceberg lettuce, prime rib steak and mozzarella sticks. Earlier this year the United Kingdom had an outbreak of Salmonella infections (salmonellosis) that health officials linked to Cadbury chocolates. Learn more about Salmonella.
