Recalled Foxy-Brand Lettuce Not Contaminated with E. coli O157:H7
On October 8, the Nunes Company Inc. of Salinas, California, recalled Foxy-brand green-leaf lettuce because a water reservoir tested positive for E. coli bacteria. The recall was a precautionary measure because the company was not sure if the E. coli found was a pathogenic strain such as E. coli O157:H7. Nunes Company has done further testing to determine the strain of E. coli involved, and it is not pathogenic. The E. coli in the water was a harmless strain and not E. coli O157:H7.
